Pretox Filler® plugs the 'holes' under the folds with Hyaluronic Acid, a naturally occurring bio-molecule found within the skin, where it contributes to cell proliferation, helping to build the “scaffolding” structure of the dermis.

Pretox Filler® is injection-free and uses a smart liposome delivery system to accurately target actives to the deep layers requiring treatment. Pretox Filler® contains several advanced and clinically proven actives, including Palimitoyl Tetrapeptide, which has been shown in studies to stimulate the development of new collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans in the skin, and is also anti-inflammatory. It restores the cytokine balance of mature skin, which is responsible for many of the signs of ageing. Pretox Filler® also contains Superoxide Dismutase, Medik8’s very own Moisture Magnet™ to prevent excessive water loss, and importantly over 30% of Hyaluronic acid (pH6.5) – the skin's natural scaffolding pre-cursor.

Results and Science
Hyaluronic acid (also known as Hyaluronan or Sodium Hyaluronate) is non-sulphated glycosaminoglycan widely present in human tissue, especially in the skin. Along with collagen and elastin fibres, it is one of the principal elements of the extra cellular matrix and acts as a mediator in cell proliferation and migration.

Hyaluronic acid stands out above nearly all other bio available and synthetic polymers in hydrophilic properties’ rank. Not only does it show eminent ability to bond with water (H2O) through hydrogen bonding (one molecule of hyaluronic acid can bind up to 250 water molecules) but it also exhibits extraordinary biological compatibility.

When applied to the skin, hyaluronic acid creates a clear, translucent and invisible film on the epidermis, which helps to retain moisture on the skin as well as restore and maintain its silky, flexible and resilient properties. The improvement of the barrier function of the skin is central to the improvement of dry, ageing skin as the tissue hydration is preserved.

Dermal Filling Treatments with Hyaluronic acid are extremely effective and are absolutely safe since Hyaluronic acid molecules are enzyme-degraded. After approximately 6-12 months from the injection, Hyaluronic acid molecules are subject to degradation into carbon dioxide and water, which are entirely absorbed by the body. Although the advantage is that the treatment is 100% safe, the injections have to be repeated regularly to sustain results. Pretox Filler, on the other hand, attempts to plug the gaps in the extracelluar matrix with Hyaluronic Acid using Liposome technology without the need for painful injections and with longer lasting effects. Continuous use of Pretox Filler maintains the levels of HA at a high level, protecting the skin from dryness and wrinkle formation.

The study of Skin Smoothness after treatment with Pretox Filler has shown an improvement in skin regularity by 23.3%, increase in hydration by 24% and reduction in skin roughness by 14.2%. Skin firmness has been shown to go up by 40% and the elasticity increase was marked by 27%.

Since it is the first glycosaminoglycan to be synthesised immediately after injury, it has also been suggested that hyaluronan may be therapeutically useful not only in anti-ageing skincare regimes but also in would repair.

Directions
Apply twice daily to targeted areas, ensuring skin is clean & dry. Pretox Filler® should be used over cheeks, nasal labial lines (smile lines) and jaw line. Avoid upper & lower eyelids and lips. Allow to absorb for 3-5 minutes before applying solution-based products, hydrator, sunscreen and/or make up.
